Care philosophy

I have extensive training in basic neuroscience and psychopharmacology, as well as insight oriented, cognitive behavioral, and supportive psychotherapy. I believe in using medications for psychiatric conditions judiciously- the lowest effective dose and least number of medications necessary to relieve suffering. I pay careful attention to side effects and the interactions between medications. I listen closely to my patients and formulate treatment in a mutually respectful, collaborative fashion.  I keep current with the latest developments in psychiatric treatment by regular reading of medical journals and websites, and I attend psychopharmacology review courses annually at top institutions such as the Massachusetts General Hospital and UCLA.  But I learn the most from my patients.  I consider it a great privilege to be able use my training and experience to help people in their struggles with mental health issues of all kinds.
